The folk tale of the fox that lost its tail turns into the very real story of young Kurdish girl Jiyan, her grandmother and their quest to find the guns that will free her father from the Turkish military prison where he and the rest of a village's menfolk are being held hostage. But can their innocence and naivety triumph in a world that continually threatens to condemn them to a life of interminable conflict? Set against the stunning landscape around Lake Van in south-eastern Turkey - whose beauty is in stark contrast to the fear, oppression and sense of loss that stalks the region - it's a beautifully crafted piece of storytelling that movingly captures the sense of a community burdened by loss. The traditional Kurdish music soundtrack is an additional delight.
